Alka Tiwari, a 1988-batch Indian Administrative Officer (IAS) of Jharkhand cadre and currently the Principal Secretary, Cabinet (Vigilance), has been appointed as Advisor to the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Tiwari is the only person from the State in the Aayog which has replaced Planning Commission and is likely to redefine Centre-State relations.
The appointment was made along with several other administrative changes made at the Central level. Tiwari after being given the position, said, “It’s a very prestigious appointment and will provide a good exposure to me. It will be a good learning experience”.
