Another major Secretary-level shuffle at Centre, 6 shifted

The NDA Government has effected another major Secretary-level reshuffle transferring as many as six officers.

Among the officials shifted are Urban Development Secretary Shankar Agarwal and Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Secretary Anita Agnihotri. While Agarwal has been sent to the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Agnihotri has been posted at the Department of Social justice and Empowerment. The twin transfers are believed to have been made to give a push to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pet Smart Cities and Housing for All schemes.

Department of Commerce Special Secretary Madhusudan Prasad and National Commission of Women’s Member Secretary Nandita Chatterjee replaced Agarwal and Agnihotri, respectively.

The government also brought in Gujarat cadre IAS officer Gauri Kumar to the Cabinet Secretariat to serve as the Secretary Coordination & Public Grievances. Kumar was serving as Secretary in the Labour and Employment Ministry. She took charge as Secretary (Coordination and Public Grievances) in place of S B Agnihotri, who retires within days.

Bihar cadre IAS officer Bhanu Pratap Sharma has been posted as the Health Secretary. He was serving as a Special Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Secretary to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.

Sharma replaces Lov Verma, who was shifted to Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. Verma, in turn, replaced Stuti Narayan Kacker, who retired.
