E-commerce portal Snapdeal.com has tied up with the India Post to launch a pilot project to set up facilitation desks at Varanasi post offices to enable weavers to sell on its platform.

“This is an endeavour by Snapdeal and India Post to provide a platform to local artisans, small and medium entrepreneurs to popularise their indigenous products,” Snapdeal CEO and co-founder Kunal Bahl said.

The weavers will be able to list their products on Snapdeal at negligible cost, Bahl said.

The post offices will act as a dropping point for sellers, and India Post will deliver the goods to the buyers.

Snapdeal will also create an ‘India Post’ store, featuring the associated sellers exclusively.
