Dineshwar Sharma, Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau has been appointed as the agency’s new chief.

Sharma, a Bihar-born, Kerala-cadre Indian Police Service officer of the 1979 batch, will take charge on January 1, succeeding Syed Asif Ibrahim.


Syed Asif Ibrahim’s tenure ends on December 31.

According to the Department of Personnel and Training, Sharma will take over as IB chief for a period of two years from the date of assumption of charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”
