Commerce Ministry unveils user-friendly trade portal

The Commerce Ministry on Monday unveiled a user-friendly Trade Portal (www.indiantradeportal.in), which serves as a single-window access to necessary information for the Indian business community at large.

The Minister of State (Independent Charge) Commerce and Industry Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the portal. The portal aims at providing essential information pertaining to Most-Favoured Nation (MFN) and preferential tariffs, rules of origin, technical barriers to trade faced by Indian exporters.

Smt. Sitharaman expressed satisfaction over the fact that the Indian Trade Portal contains a wider coverage of information. “The Indian Trade Portal will make available data for use of exporters and importers at one place, in a user-friendly manner which will ease off business for trade and industry.”

Urging exporters to make best use of the portal, the Minister invited continuous feedback for further improvement. Smt. Sitharaman said that the Ministry welcomes suggestions and will continue to work for the updation and improvement of the portal.

The portal will also facilitate exports and will help Indian exporters to utilise the Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).

The portal has been developed and maintained by Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO).
