Outshining Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra has emerged as the leading state in India for UID Generation. As per the officially disclosed information, the state currently has generated UID for 7,67,88,675 residents and already leads the league of Indian states in terms of UID enrolment. Presently, Maharashtra reports UID enrolment of 8.2 crore residents. The state has more than 4000 UID enrolment machines that are operational and directed towards ensuring the time-bound enrolment of residents.

Aiming to enhance the enrolment process the state government also undertook numerous initiatives like removal of non-value added steps like collection of KYR+ data, generation of Registrar packets, operating multiple enrolment agencies under a controlled environment etc. Additionally, the Maharashtra government also eyes to attain a target of achieving the maximum UID enrolment by March 2014. The systematic approach adopted and followed by the state government has culminated in reaching the summit, opined Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary IT, Government of Maharashtra.

He further added that the state government will continue on implementing multiple innovative programs on UID to help citizens in achieving their benefits. The state government had earlier bagged 12 awards at various national and international platforms for its pioneering work in the UID initiative.
