Union Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology Killi Kruparani on Tuesday inaugurated office of the Chief Postmaster General at Rail Head Complex in Jammu.

Constructed at a cost of Rs 2.93 Cr, the newly constructed building ‘Meghdoot Bhawan’ will be housing the office of the Chief Postmaster General and Senior Superintendent of Post Office Jammu and is equipped with latest infrastructure.

Foundation stone of ‘Post Office Complex’ was also laid today by the Union Minister, who is on her first visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
She promised best postal services to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.


Speaking on the occasion, Killi assured customer friendly atmosphere and state of the art facilities at each of the post offices in the State of J and K and in country.
The minister said that Department of Posts (DoP) is catering to the communication needs of the country for more than 150 years now through its large network.

By May 2014, all the post offices will be providing online services and by the end of the next year, DoP will be installing 1000 ATMs in the main post offices.


On the initiatives taken by DoP for making post offices citizen friendly, the minister told that DoP have started ‘Project Arrow’ under which 15000 post offices have been upgraded and in the next one year 2000 more post offices will be upgraded.
