Initially planned to be rolled out by August 2012, it has been delayed as the authorities failed to provide the facilities to install the new system

egKochi: The implementation of e-Governance project in Kochi civic body has been delayed as the authorities failed to provide the facilities to install the new system to the implementing agency.

The civic body was planning to launch the pilot phase by August 2012. The delay had resulted in an additional financial burden of nearly `Rs 15 lakh to the Corporation, sources said.

The project is now expected to  be launched by June-July this year, officials said.

The implementing agency, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), had completed the procedures, including the software development for major modules included in the project within the stipulated time. The User Acceptance Testing (UAT) was also conducted.

“The existing office arrangement of the various departments of the Corporation needs to be restructured to facilitate the implementing agency to install the new workstation,” a TCS spokesman said.

However, Corporation officials say the existing website, www.corporationofcochin.net, had already been re-designed to an interactive web portal.
