With a view to attracting greater number of domestic and international tourists, the Bihar government has developed a website for the historical Patna museum. One can take a tour down heritage lane by visiting the museums website at www.patnamuseum.gov.in.
The website has been developed to facilitate the visitors to take a virtual tour of animated galleries showcasing the various artifacts kept at the museum along with corresponding descriptions.
A senior official of Art, Culture and Youth Affairs department said that the content of the website is based on open door source content management, similar to that being used in Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia.
The virtual gallery has been developed as a 360-degree animated exhibition area, replicating the exact view of the museum’s exhibition galleries, the official said. Visitors to the website will also be directed to various galleries through audio-visual means. The official added that there are plans to connect the museum’s website with social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.
