CDAC’s “Meghdoot” to provide web solutions

C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing) has launched Meghdoot 1.0, a free, open source cloud offering. The ‘one-stop’ solution can help users establish cloud environment. “It contains all pre-requisite tools across all layers to implement the cloud. Apart from various third party tools, this set of tools contain some value-added features and functionalities,” Rajat Moona, Director-General of C-DAC, said.

Developed by CDAC’s Chennai team, Meghdoot offers features such as platform and Infrastructure-as-a-service (PaaS and IaaS), metering and monitoring, Web-based management of cloud resources and enhanced security across layers.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he said Meghdoot differed from the other solutions in terms of offering all the necessary tools required across all layers bundled as a single component. Marking the silver jubilee celebrations of the organisation, he also announced Balsahara, a mobile and Web-based children homes’ automation software.

“It is a multi-lingual, mobile and Web-based software that automates and monitors the activities of the children homes on a daily basis. It helps maintain personal records of the children and utilisation of assets,” he said.

The solution is developed by CDAC’s Hyderabad centre
