Mamata seeks revival of software tech parks scheme

The West Bengal Chief Minister, Ms Mamata Banerjee’s in a bid to bring technological development in the state, has written to the Union Finance Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee to help revive the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI)/Electronic Hardware Technology Park scheme.
Simultaneously, she has asked the State Government officials to come out soon with a comprehensive information technology policy to support the software and hardware sectors and to take them to remote areas of the State.
Government is considering Ms Banerjee’s request in a positive manner, particularly in the light of the slowdown in economic growth and investments as well as due to the political undertones of the demand
