Document Management System

Document Management System (DMS)- for managing documents for electronic publishing- facilitates e-Governance in a big way. Benefits of DMS include reduced paper usage, lower requirement of space for data storage, storage costs, saving of man-hours due to automation of processes, reduction in document retrieval costs, creation of an information repository, savings on courier/dispatch costs across locations and enhanced employee productivity.

The need for DMS can be gauged by the fact that appeared in a recent study, which showed that unstructured data is growing at a rate of 65% and it will continue to grow at the same rate if not faster in the years ahead. The content management software market in the Asia Pacific region, according to IDC estimates, would be worth $362 million by 2012. Another estimate, particularly on DMS market prospects in India puts the figure as $75 million for 2012, growing at a CAGR of 13.2%.
