A feasibility report for the launch of 'telemedicine system' for all districts planning to employ satellite technology to ensure provision of better communication and healthcare facilities to the masses, has been prepared by the Sindh Health Department.

This feasibility report is towards the project named 'Hope' which was launched in March 2005 in Nawabshah, Hyderabad, Larkana, Badin and Sukkur districts while Karachi was the hub of this project. It is hoped that this telemedicine system would provide top notch facilities to people living in the rural and far flung areas of the province and that approaching experts would be made easier for these people. With the help of this system, specialist doctors can examine patients that are located far away from their offices and recommend doctors located in those districts how to treat the concerned patient. The government plans to provide facilities of telecardiology, telepathology, teledermotology and robotic telesurgery with the help of this system.
