In another initiative towards promoting e-Governance in North-East India, the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio declared 2008-09 as the Year of Capacity Building which will aim at reforms and renewing the system of governance and delivery of public services.

Along with this, a two-day “Capacity Building Workshop on e-Governance” was also organised recently for outlining the road map of e-Governance in Nagaland.

The workshop aimed at addressing the stakeholders such as legislators, policy-makers and senior government officials of Nagaland and it highlighted that the state is lagging on e-Governance and Information Technology (IT) domain in comparison to south Indian states.

Governor of the state K Sankaranarayanan called upon the stekeholders to give priority to e-Governance in their respective departments for improving the service delivery system. It is been mentioned that the capacity building of all legislators, deputy commissioners and senior government officials will be done by providing them with laptop computers.
