Wipro to Assist MCD in its e-Governance Initiatives

In a move towards developing its e-Governance initiatives, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has engaged software company Wipro as consultant.

Speaking on the initiative, the MCD Standing Committee Chairman Vijender Gupta said that the corporation wants to become a paperless office before it shifts its headquarters to the new Civic Centre building by the end of 2008.

Wipro InfoTech will facilitate in this drive by studying the activities, service delivery, mechanism and operation of different departments of MCD. The company will finally prepare a Gap Analysis Document in terms with the e-Initiatives of the MCD.

This initiative will make the MCD portal and solutions more user-friendly and also maintain data security. There would be computer training sessions organised for the concerned municipal officers and employees so that they are able to provide efficient and prompt services to citizens.

The various Departments which would be covered within this project are – Education, Horticulture, Licensing, Land and Estate, Health, Information Technology, Finance, Property Tax, Public Grievance, Vigilance, Slum and JJ and Labour Welfare.
