An announcement by the Government of Punjab states that the all the records relating to land deals in the state would be computerised by December 2009. The estimated cost for the process would be INR 100 crore.

Director of the Punjab Land Records AS Bains said ,the process would make it easier for people to lay their hands on copy of land revenue record known as 'fards' and other important documents.He further informed that the computerisation process was almost complete and in some districts like Patiala 90 per cent work had already been done. Bains added that the government had opened 153 centres all over the state to enable people to collect land records and the entire computerisation process will be completed in phases.
