Kuala Lumpur is going to become a 'wireless city with free wireless internet coverage for two years. The Wi-Fi facility will make it possible for 80 percent of the federal capital's 1.5 million residents to access the Internet via broadband.

The project is siming to increase the broadband coverage in the Klang Valley to 90 percent of the population by 2010. In the first phase of the project, 1,500 WiFi zones would be created and cover all commercial centres, including office buildings, public housing areas, community centres and public areas. The estimated cost of the project is around RM60 million.
