Malaysian firm takes major initiatives towards e-Governance

The Malaysian-based company HeiTech Padu Berhad has launched a smart card, which offers variety of functions, including e-banking, payment of utility bills, e-passport in a single card.

Malaysia's national identification card, the MyKad, is the world's first national ID card and is an example of dual interface technology. MyKad is suitable for national identification, driving licence, passport details, MEPS cash, health information, automated teller machines, public key infrastructure and 'Touch 'n Go”. The company has already covered the entire population of the country and also three provinces in Indonesia. The company is planning to bring the entire project in countries like Singapore, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Papua New Guinea. The Governments of Bahrain, Syria, Morocco, Kuwait and Myanmar are using cutting-edge technology. HeiTech's electronic government solution suite links people, process and technology in a seamless integrated manner to deliver value and convenience to the citizens. The Population Management solution provides the information about each citizen. It provides information about birth, adoption, death, marriage and divorce into a single solution database.
