MCD (India) to track rickshaws with chips

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will implement the rickshaw policy by the end of this year to stop the duplicity of licenses issued to rickshaw-pullers. Under the new scheme, chips would be installed to track rickshaw pullers.

The civic agency has decided license only to owners of rickshaws. As per the policy, rickshaw-pullers will also get health insurance and a yearly health check-up. MCD would be enable to get all data related to a particular rickshaw, including name of the licensee the period for which the license is issued and the particular zone from where it was issued with the help of a scanner machine. Soon MCD will invite bids from companies to install chips in rickshaws. The company will charge an yearly fees from each rickshaw-puller, and provide them social welfare services like health check up. The agency is also planning to issue smart card for rickshaw pullers.
