The World Bank announced that the bank will support the design and implementation of e-Governance in Sri-Lanka. The bank will continue to provide assistance to the Government of Sri Lanka through the e-Sri Lanka Development Project.

The program aims to achieve a custom-oriented governance model with 'one-stop-service' delivery mechanisms. It means that citizens would be able to avail government services at a “single window” of the government, rather than running around numerous government agencies. The Sri-Lanka Government has taken vital steps to bring government services at the doorsteps by streamlining the services at the Department of Immigration and at motor vehicle registration offices.
