Wi-Fi gets onboard Asia’s trains

Wi-Fi or wireless Internet service is soon coming into public trains of Asia. Currently, Wireless Internet service is available on Japan's Tsukuba Express.

Colubris Networks, wireless technology provider has clinched a deal to provide Wi-Fi services to commuters in the waiting and boarding areas of Hong Kong's Mass Transit Railway (MTR) system. The company will deploy Colubris wireless LAN (WLAN) access points to all 51 MTR subway stations by the end of the year. The public trains of Singapore could also be equipped with Wi-Fi capabilities. The Land Transport Authority of Singapore issued a Request for Information (RFI) for a trainborne surveillance system.
