UAE is holding 42nd position in e-Government readiness rankings, according to a report revealed by UN (United Nations).

While speaking at the three-day meeting of the Asia-Pacific Top Level Domain Association (APTLD), Director General, Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) Mohammed Al Ghanim said that recently, the TRA co-organised the UAE Forum in Information and Communications Technology Research 2007, to bring experts from Europe, Australia and the United States to help foster collaboration and knowledge exchange amongst researchers in the ICT-sector. The government has launched the UAE Research and Education Network, which is aimed to provide Leading Edge Network Infrastructure to centres of Learning and Research within the UAE. TRA has also introduced another initiative, the UAE Computer Emergency Response Team (UAE-CERT), which will constitute a cyber-security coordination center in the UAE. This strategic initiative will facilitate the detection, prevention and response to the broader set of cyber-security incidents on the Internet.
