State Govt. installs SCO Mobile Server project in MP, India

The Madhya Pradesh (MP), India Government has selected SCO Mobile Server as the platform to develop and deploy government services to more than 60 million citizens.

The government is deploying the e-Governance solution to provide online public services and record keeping, including online bill payment, taxes, land records, income certificates, loans, driving licenses, birth and death certificates, and various government entitlement programs. The project is using SCO Mobile Server, which enables electronic provisioning of services and access to government information using a cell phone over the cell carrier network. SCO Mobile Server, runs on SCO UNIX and Windows 2003, and is currently available as a hosted service or can be deployed as a server using the traditional perpetual product license model. The project aims to develop the mobile monitoring and control system within the existing framework of processes, which can cater to effective data capture and transparent reporting for the Office of Revenue department.
