The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) of UK is planning to organise a campaign to raise public take-up of its Electronic Vehicle Licensing service across the country.

The agency is planning to launch a public-relations campaign this summer, followed by advertising and direct mailings later in the year.  Electronic vehicle licensing enables vehicle owners to renew the tax discount or to notify that a vehicle is off the road by telephone or over the Internet. According to Noel Shanahan, Customer Services Director at the DVLA, the agency is aiming to get 60% of its customers using the service by October 2008, compared with a current rate of 30%. The DVLA is one of the biggest online retailers in the country.
