The Government of Orissa, India is planning to make the executive cadre of employees in the state secretariats computer savvy, as part of its e-Governance programme.

The proposal is still under consideration and the government is planning to create a separate cadre of computer professionals besides providing training to all employees on the use of computers. According to Home secretary Tarun Kanti Mishra, who is the controlling authority of all non-gazetted employees of the state secretariat, though computers have been installed in the state secretariat , most employees and officers are not computer savvy. Many of them are reluctant to use the PC.
