NHAI, India plans to automate data collection process

National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), is automating data collection, updation and management of Road Information System (RIS) for National Highway Development Project (NHDP) corridors in India. Oracle is providing the backend database for all the applications.

NHAI has invited separate bids for the project. The authority is considering two packages for RIS. The projects include data integration of a total of 7,000 kilometers of the roads across India. The project is divided in two phases, with each phase covering 3500 kilometers. The main aim of the project is to develop an interface system for automatic data entry into the RIS and ensure seamless integration of data with various sub-systems. NHAI will use the Weigh In Motion (WIM) equipment for existing base map generation, based on Autodesk Map 3D/Map guides. These map would be approved by Survey of India (SoI). The maps will be used to vectorise administrative boundaries of states, districts, cities, etc.
