Soon, the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB), India will launch an e-Governance initiative to offer online consent to firms seeking environmental clearance.

The state government has launched the first initiative, where applicants will have the option of filing their submissions online, tracking the progress of their applications and getting consent, without visiting the MPCB office even once. The state government has invested INR 14 million for this project. Online consent will make things easier for MPCB and it will also build accountability and introduce transparency.
