Madhya Pradesh (MP) is becoming India's IT hub for a variety of reasons, mainly supportive infrastructure development and investment-friendly policy initiatives.

All departments of the state government have been equipped with computers and have their own software services or management and administration of the departmental activities. A number of IT companies have expressed investment plans for the state. The government has set a target to connect all development blocks with the state capital through the computer network with an investment of INR 120 billion. Madhya Pradesh has been rated as one of the first four states of the country witnessing rapid development in the Information Technology sector. Around 64 mandis or agri-produce market yards are being electronically connected to divisional headquarters. The V-SAT based communication network being established in 400 locations across the state will provide education to farmers, on issues like weather forecasting and warnings suggestions. Madhya Pradesh tops in the country in having computerized the working of the Transport Department. New areas like Internet journalism, e-Commerce are also emerging fast.
