e-Payments system reaches rural Azerbaijan

Electronic payment system has started to progress and reach rural areas of Azerbaijan. There are more than 1100 ATMs and more than 2000 POS terminals, while 10% are located in rural areas.

International Bank of Azerbaijan is the most active in e-Payment system throughout the country. The bank has owned 70% of ATMs and installed 30% of POS-terminals in the country. Bank has installed more than 50 information kiosks in the country. The International Bank of Azerbaijan is followed by Kapital Bank, bank Standard, Azerdemiryolbank, Technikabank and others for the number of e-Payments systems. The most popular e-System payment is payment of utilities and mobile phone bills. Some banks have also recently joined payment system for Nar Mobiel, the new GSM operator in Azerbaijan. The electronic payment systems has started to emerge because of delivery of pension benefits in the country.
