The Union Minister of shipping, road transport and highways, Government of India has stressed the states to implement e-Governance in transport sector to solve the problems being faced by people as well as enforcement agencies.

Speaking at the 10th meeting of the National Road Safety Council in Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, he told that the centre would assist in the form of software development and its transfer to the states. He expressed his dissatisfaction over the slow implementation of smart card based driving licenses, registration certificates for motor vehicles. He urged the ministers-in-charge of transport and also the state officials to implement the new initiatives of the government in thier respective states.
