The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is determining whether making standards for the e-Records Management e-Government project in US.

 

NIST will decide the adoptions of these standards and how records are transferred to the National Archives and Records Administration would be the initial measure of success. NIST is making it as a governmentwide standard configuration, which will solves the technology part to figure out how to transfer records. The Office of Management and Budget's e-Government (OMB) wants to metrics. The e-Records Management initiative, the metrics could cover three areas: the adoption of standards by agencies; the adoption of standards by agencies and the successful transfer of records to NARA; or the adoption of standards by vendors and inclusion in products agencies are using.
