APPI offers healthcare units to 100 villages of India

Soon one hundred villages of India would be equipped with primary health care facilities like mobile medical units and telemedicine centres, with an active involvement of Indian American physicians.


American Association of Physicians of India (APPI) has signed a three-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Confederation of Indian Industries and Indian American Council to promote development of the healthcare sector in India, with an emphasis on rural areas. The first phase of the project would be implemented in Patna, Bihar. The Patna Medical College and NTR Medical College of Andhra Pradesh are collaborating with APPI to help in materialising the project. These villages would also have mobile medical and their primary healthcare centres will be equipped with telemedicine facilities. These medicals units would be primarily focused on five diseases like diabetes, cardiovascular problems, deafness among children, carcinoma cervix and carcinoma prostate.
