Microsoft releases the software for Indian Police

Microsoft, software giant has designed a software package for India, which will digitally record FIRs and scenes of crimes. Microsoft has released this product for the Ministry of Science and Technology.

  

According to Microsoft, this proof-of-concept software is along with its hardware, which arms all 2300 police stations in India with video and voice recorders at a cost of Rs 230 crore. The product will come with Microsoft's Tablet PC, digital camera, voice and video recorder and software. Police would be trained to use the digitally seal the events at scenes of crime. All information would be related to FIRs, case histories, criminal investigations and the system would store the recorded evidence in inter linked and central databases.
