IT policy with a social need

A new IT policy and promotion of satellite towns with necessary social inputs are under consideration in Tamil Nadu.

Addressing the opening session of the two-day Human Resources Summit-2006 of the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM), C. Chandramouli, Secretary, IT Department of the state invited inputs from the industry for the new IT policy that requires necessary revamping in physical and social infrastructure. Satellite towns were also anticipated in view of accelerating the functions and to decongest the existing cities. Need for freedom to higher education institutions to innovate in terms of the course and the curriculum, as sought by the IT industry, with basic minimum standards was also stressed.
