Railway call centres for customer care in India

Indian Railway (IR) will set up call centres for customer care and to provide several utilities.

These centres will be given to private parties with infrastructure and all facilities. Around 22 such call centres will be established by next financial year. Out of total, in Gujarat two call centres will be erected in two different cities – Ahmedabad and Rajkot. These call centres will book tickets on mobile or phone and tickets will be delivered to home with delivery charges. The main objective of this initiative is to reduce long queues at ticket booking centres. These call centres will also call to passengers to inform whether the train is delayed on their mobile or phone numbers mentioned in the ticket booking form by the passenger. They will also send alert messages as SMS on mobile phones of passengers if train is on time or delayed. Currently the project has been implemented in Patna and Bangalore.
