IT companies bet big on bigger, flashier GITEX

The Andhra Pradesh state government in India will enter into Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with a dozen firms during the fifth edition of GITEX-India 2006 which will translate into investment of Rs 457 crore and about 24,000 jobs in the southern Indian cities Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.

The companies – seven to be located in Hyderabad and the remaining in Visakhapatnam – include CBay Systems, Patni Computer Systems, Cognizant Technologies, Sonata Software, DQ Entertainment, Connexxant and Zen Technologies here and IIC Systems, IIC Technologies, World Infotech, Metaminds Software Solutions and Infotech Enterprises in Visakhapatnam. The event, which is being conducted by the Andhra Pradesh government in association with Dubai World Trade Centre at the Hitex International Exhibition Centre, aims at creating a networking platform for national and international ICT companies exploring business opportunities in India. Instead of limiting the event to software and hardware exhibition, the organisers have decided to give value addition to participants by having trade, job fairs and computer shopping for three days.
