The AP State Wide Area Network (APSWAN), Andhra Pradesh Government's e-Governance project in India was attacked by hackers in an abortive attempt to steal information.
 
According to the police, APSWAN is the mail server of the Andhra Pradesh Technology Services (APTS), and the nodal agency meeting the IT requirements of various State Government departments and private clients. Though it was hacked in the second week of December, APTS Management lodged a complaint with the Crime Investigation Department (CID) only on December 28. The police suspect cyber terrorists or miscreants behind the hacking. During inquiries spybot, a dangerous computer-virus was detected. It is suspected that hackers had sent information with the said virus in the APSWAN network.
